Nomura hires Ong Kin Yok as Malaysia, Singapore MD, team head for international wealth

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Japan’s Nomura Holdings has appointed Ong Kin Yok as managing director and team head for Malaysia and Singapore of its international wealth management business, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Thursday.

Ong, who has over 25 years of private banking experience, is joining from HSBC where he was most recently desk head for Malaysia and Singapore at the bank’s global private banking business, the memo showed.

Prior to HSBC, Ong was with UBS where he held various positions including senior client partner of the global family office for the ultra-high-net-worth clients, the memo showed.

Ong will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Philip Kunz, Nomura’s senior advisor and group head of Southeast Asia, according to the memo.

A Nomura spokesperson confirmed the contents of the memo.
