Russia’s top general hands out medals to troops in Kursk for gains against Ukraine, Defence Ministry says

MOSCOW (Reuters) – The chief of Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, has visited his troops fighting in Russia’s Kursk region and awarded medals to some of them after Moscow’s forces pushed Ukrainian troops back there, the Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said Gerasimov had noted Russia’s success in destroying Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region and given orders for further action there after listening to reports about the situation on the ground.

The Defence Ministry’s TV channel showed Gerasimov pinning medals for courage onto the uniforms of a line of soldiers.
