China to strengthen oversight of fees charged to businesses, cabinet meeting says

BEIJING (Reuters) – China will strengthen oversight of the fees government agencies charge to businesses, state broadcaster CCTV reported on Friday, citing a cabinet meeting.

The cabinet studied establishing a long-term regulatory mechanism to improve the management of such fees, CCTV reported, emphasising the need to crack down on charging fees in violation of regulations.

The step is an important move towards cutting companies’ operational costs and improving the business environment, CCTV said, quoting the meeting chaired by Premier Li Qiang on Friday.
