Italy’s power grid operator Terna ups investments to 2028

MILAN (Reuters) – Italy’s power grid operator Terna on Tuesday increased its planned investments for the next five years by 7% to 17.7 billion euros and slightly increased its 2028 financial targets.

Last year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 18% compared to the previous year, to 2.6 billion euros ($2.81 billion).

The state-controlled group recently said that connection requests from data centres reached 30 gigawatt (GW) last year, 24 times those recorded in 2021. In the twelve months ending in February 2025 connection requests rose further, to 40 GW.
