InPost buys Spain’s Sending to expand delivery network in Iberia

GDANSK (Reuters) -Parcel locker firm InPost has acquired Spanish delivery company Sending to enhance its presence in the Iberian Peninsula and integrate the 24-hour door-to-door delivery service previously provided by Sending, it said on Wednesday.

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

InPost, which has built a stronghold in its home market Poland, has been gaining traction abroad. The Sending deal is the latest example of its strategy of pan-European expansion, following the acquisition of Yodel in Britain earlier this year.

BY THE NUMBERS

At the end of the second quarter, InPost had 3,000 automated parcel machine (APM) sites and 9,000 pick-up and drop-off points in Spain and Portugal. It plans to add another 1,000 locker sites around the region by the end of 2025.

KEY QUOTE

“Following up on our recent takeovers in the UK, this strategic move will not only expand our reach but also accelerate the growth of our innovative out-of-home delivery solutions,” InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska said in a press statement.
