MILAN (Reuters) -Italy’s antitrust authority has given unconditional approval to Poste Italiane’s acquisition of an additional 15% stake in Telecom Italia (TIM) from France’s Vivendi, two sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The deal makes Poste Italiane the single largest shareholder in TIM with a 24.8% stake.
The Italian competition watchdog, TIM and Poste Italiane all declined to comment.
State-backed Poste, which has expanded beyond its core mail and parcel business to offer financial, energy, payment and broadband services, notified the transaction to the Italian competition authority in May.
The authority concluded its review of the deal without imposing any specific conditions on the parties involved, the sources said.
