UK detects West Nile virus for first time in mosquitoes

LONDON (Reuters) -The West Nile virus has been found in mosquitoes collected in Britain for the first time, the UK Health Security Agency said on Wednesday.

The virus, which mostly spreads to people through mosquito bites, can cause severe, life-threatening illness in about 1 in 150 people who are infected, according to the World Health Organisation.
